Yakima Valley third in Reno, hosts Flames on Wednesday

Pak wins before returning to league play; Beetles drop semifinal in San Diego

RENO – Colby Graham had an RBI triple, doubled and scored a pair of runs to help Yakima Valley defeat the Manogue (Reno) Athletics, 6-1, to claim third place at the Josh Anderson Memorial Tournament.


Bodie Yale added two hits – including an RBI triple – and Corbin Goodlake added a double and a run for the Pak (14-7).


Gavin Rose started and gave up just two hits and one run in three innings, before Jake Jansen pitched four innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory.


Yakima Valley left-handed pitcher Alex Morales earned all-tournament honors after tossing a two-hitter with nine strikeouts against the Olympia-area-based Titans on Friday.


The Pak hosts the Hanford Flames on Wednesday in a league doubleheader, before visiting the Flames on Thursday for another twin bill.


Beetles fall in semifinal

SAN DIEGO – Yakima built a three-run lead before the OC Mariners rallied for a 6-4 victory in the semifinals of the Admiral Shelton Tournament.


Braden Albrecht led the Beetles offense with three hits, three runs and an RBI, and Quinton Allen-Greggs had two hits and two RBI.


Andrew Roy and Caleb Rutherford combined to scatter five hits over seven innings, and give up just one earned run.


Yakima (8-10) hosts the River City Athletics for a nonleague doubleheader Wednesday.
