Ellensburg finished fourth in Class 2A in the WIAA’s Scholastic Cup.

Selah was fifth in 2A, while West Valley finished the same in 4A.

The Cup recognizes a school’s performance in the classroom and in competition, whether that be sports teams or cheer and dance and drill. Teams receive more points the better the on-field or classroom ranking.

Teams also lose points based on ejections from games or matches, with the fewer the ejections the better.

The CWAC had the best showing of teams in the Stat Hound footprint, with Ephrata (16th), Prosser (18) and Grandview (22nd) joining the Bulldogs and Vikings in the top 25 of 2A.

Cashmere finished sixth in 1A, with Royal eighth. Zillah (11th), College Place (20th) and Naches Valley (22nd) also were in the top 25 of the classification.

Eastmont at 25th was the only other CBBN team in the top 25.

Gonzaga Prep was the 4A winner, with Lakeside of Seattle (3A), Sehome (2A), Seton Catholic (1A), Freeman 2B) and Crosspoint Christian (1B) also winning awards.

Wenatchee boys basketball won the academic state championship in 4A, while the Prosser girls, who also were second on the court, won 2A title, as did the Mustangs’ girls tennis squad.

Royal’s dance and drill team (1A), Ellensburg’s choir (2A) and Grandview’s band program also won state academic titles.
