Beetles win at Firecracker Tourney, Pak falls against Lakeside

Yakima plays in Saturday nightcap, while Yakima Valley has two games at Pugh Memorial

Zillah graduate Nathan Kibbe singled home a run and eventually scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Yakima to its third straight win to start the Firecracker Tournament with an 8-6 victory against the Northeast 49ers of Chewelah at Parker Faller Field.


The Beetles (13-17) continue play at 7 p.m. Saturday against the Kelly Brady Bagpipers of Spokane.


Andrew Roy had two hits, one of them a one-run double, Andrew Serl added two hits, and Blake Gibbons had a hit and drove in three runs.


Quinton Allen-Greggs and Jayj Gallegos combined to give up three earned runs and strike out 10 on the mound for Yakima.


Pak falls at Pugh Memorial

Alex Morales had three hits and Bodie Yale singled in a run, but Yakima Valley was otherwise slowed by Lakeside in the Brandy Pugh Memorial Tournament at Bannerwood Sports Park in Bellevue.


The Pak (18-9) plays twice Saturday, starting the day at 2 p.m. against Mudville Baseball and following that with the Northwest Star Mavericks at 7:30.
