A big summer for West Valley sophomore Jrayden Whitfield has the colleges watching – and offering – the 6-foot-5 sharpshooting wing.

Stanford of the ACC this past weekend became the first Power 4 school to offer Whitfield a scholarship, which followed an offer late last month from the Big Sky’s Montana.

Whitfield poured in 61 points in the first two games of the UAA Finals last Thursday-Sunday in the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. He finished averaging more than 25 points during the event playing for Seattle Select.

As a member of Northwest Rotary’s 15U squad, Whitfield led the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League with 39 3-pointers over the course of the campaign.

Prephoops.com ranks Whitfield No.5 in the state for the class of 2029, with Rainier Beach’s JJ Crawford – the son of NBA star Jamal Crawford – sitting atop the rankings.

Whitfield was an honorable mention all-CBBN selection this winter following his freshman in which he averaged more than 10 points per game and sank 48 3-pointers for the Rams, helping to their second straight conference title and third consecutive district championship.

West Valley junior combo guard Austin Birley is the second-ranked player in the class of 2027, and has offers from Washington, Washington State and Colorado State, among others.

Fellow 11th-grader Jett Bremerman, a smooth-shooting lefty who led the CBBN with 52 3s, also is drawing attention from colleges, and is waiting on his first offer.
