Now that VarsityWA has finished its positional breakouts and class  rankings leading up to the 2026 season of Washington high school  football, it’s time to look at things in a different way.

By classification.

After Class 1B, 2B and 1A, it's time to rank the top 20 standouts from 1A football.

Much like the selection process for the VarsityWA Preseason 100, preseason positional rankings and preseason class rankings, the criteria for the classification rankings is a mixture of what a player has already accomplished individually, team success and offseason recruiting buzz:

PRESEASON 2A RANKINGS

1. QB Ryan Harrington, Anacortes, sr.

Blessed with such arm talent, WSU commit sometimes makes throws that defy logic.

2. DB Cole Sievers, Archbishop Murphy, jr.

Burst on scene with pick-6 against Anacortes (2024) — and has dominated ever since.

3. WR Brody Buxton, Prosser, jr.

It’s a wiggle, a juke and a “go” for this twitchy pass catcher who can take over a game.

4. LB William Wilson, Archbishop Murphy, sr.

How imposing is his presence? He’s a future defensive lineman playing linebacker.

5. DB Grady Wall, Tumwater, sr.

Instinctual EvCo defensive MVP is full speed ahead — or behind — at safety.

6. OL Logan Rogers, Sehome, sr.

Strong, technical and reliable — pound for pound, he’s arguably top blocker around.

7. RB Isaiah Smith, Archbishop Murphy, sr.

Became head of team’s running back committee mid-year and ran away with the job.

8. OL Nate Lowery, Tumwater, sr.

If you want to see Wing-T pile driver who can move, watch this Idaho State commit.

9. OL Zach Dykstra, Lynden, sr.

Study the feet, especially his first step, and you’ll quickly know why colleges love him.

10. QB Nathan Zettle, West Valley of Spokane, sr.

So accomplished in football and basketball, two-sport GSL MVP could play anywhere.

11. DB Noah Maxwell, Steilacoom, sr.

12. QB Wyatt Hoffman, W.F. West, jr.

13. LB Dre Quintino, Anacortes, sr.

14. WR Jaleo Johnson, Steilacoom, sr.

15. QB Nathaniel Putman, Bainbridge, sr.

16. DB Ethan Bello, Tumwater, sr.

17. DL Alexander Barreras, Prosser, sr.

18. ATH Shiron Seniours, Orting, sr.

19. DL Siua Fotofili, Pullman, jr.

20. DB Jeremiah Orcutt, Franklin Pierce, sr.
