Former Tri-City Herald sports editor Jeff Morrow joins site to cover Tri-Cities high schools

The Mid-Columbia Conference is coming to Stat Hound Media.

Former Tri-City Herald sports editor Jeff Morrow, who has continued to cover the conference and the Tri-Cities after retiring, will join the website late this summer to cover the 10-team MCC when fall sports begin in mid-August.

Morrow, a Tri-Cities native, spent 30 years at the Herald, the last 19 years as sports editor.

“No one understands or cares more about high school sports in the Tri-Cities more than Jeff,” said Jerrel Swenning, the former sports editor at the Yakima Herald-Republic who launched Stat Hound Media last summer. “While his coverage will be a great addition to the site, it more importantly will serve the athletes, coaches and high school sports fans in the Tri-Cities.”

Stat Hound will begin its second year of coverage Labor Day Weekend. The site covers the CBBN, CWAC and SCAC, while also collecting the football and basketball stats for the CBBN and SCAC.

Adding the MCC to its coverage footprint is a natural fit, as many of the teams in the conference were members of the Big Nine and Mid-Valley League alongside members of the CBBN and CWAC.

Tweaks are being made to the site, which will present its football season preview Thursday, Sept. 3, with stories leading up to that day.
