MEDFORD, Ore. – Tri-City bounced back from a lost the night before Thursday morning to stay alive at the Senior Legion Northwest Regional tournament at Harry & Davis Field.

The Titans (26-11) rode an 11-hit attack and Tanner Raines’ two-hitter to beat Wyoming’s Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers, 11-2, in an elimination game in the eight-team tournament. Tri-City will play Honolulu at 6 p.m. Saturday.

On Friday, the Titans wasted no time jumping on the Wyoming state champions, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning on Kason Allen’ double with the bases loaded to score three.

After the Sixers answered with two runs in the top of the third, Tri-City got to work again in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs on three hits and two walks.

Dallas Doherty and Trayce Teagle each had two-run singles in the rally.

Four hits and a pair of walks led the Titans to another four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth.

Dominic Driver singled home two runs in the outburst, while Chase Taylor had an RBI single, and later scored on a passed ball to cap the rally.

That was plenty of support for Raines, a Kennewick graduate bound for Walla Walla Community College. The right-hander gave up just two hits and no earned runs while striking out five.

Teagle finished with three hits and two runs, while Brady Mattson and Taylor each had two hits and scored twice.

After opening the tournament with a 13-3 victory again Alaska champ Kenai, Tri-City fell to Lewis Clark, 6-2, on Thursday.

The Twins limited the Titans to five hits and a run in the second and fifth innings.

Driver doubled and scored two runs, and Brayden Sullivan singled home a run.

Kennewick American 12s open with victory

BRANSON, Mo. – The Kennewick American 12s opened pool play Friday with a 6-3 victory against Rapid City, S.D., at the Ballparks of America.

Mason Hansen and Urijah Warren each had two hits and knocked in a run for the American 12s, who trailed 2-0 going into the sixth inning.

Kennewick tied the score in the top of the sixth, and then scored four runs in the seventh.

Presley Martinez singled in a run for KA in the seventh, and another scored on Jett Bricker’s groundout.

Brody Martin tossed three innings of scoreless relief, replacing starter Kolby Martin, who scattered five hits over four innings while striking out three and walking none.

Kennewick faces Southwest Denver at noon Saturday in the second of four pool games.
