MEDFORD, Ore. – Tri-City nearly climbed itself out of a seven-run hole before falling 11-7 to Team Central of Honolulu at the American Legion Northwest Regional at Harry & David Field.

The loss ends the season for the Titans, who last week became the first Tri-Cities teamto win the Washington state championship since the Kennewick Outlaws in 2019.

Keyed by a four-run second inning, Honolulu opened a 7-0 lead after two and a half innings.

But Tri-City got its offense going in the bottom of the third inning, with six runs on six hits to pull within a run.

Southridge senior Dallas Doherty had a two-run double and Kennewick senior Kason Allen doubled in another run for the Titans in the rally. KHS graduate Trayce Teagle and Lions senior Rece McClure also had RBI singles in the inning.

After Team Central added another run in the top of the fourth, the Titans answered with Allen’s RBI single.

But Tri-City would manage just one hit the rest of the way, and the Titans final five batters all went down in order.

Allen and Doherty each had two hits – including a double – and a pair of RBI, while McClure had a hit and two RBI.

Masao Minami had four hits – one a triple and another a double – and drove in three to lead Honolulu.

The Titans finished the season 27-12.

Kennewick American 12S 2-0 in pool play

BRANSON, Mo. – William Carlson his a two-run single to help the Kennewick American 12s to three-run of the second inning en route to a 4-2 victory against Southeast Denver on the second day of pool play at the Cal Ripken World Series at Ballparks of America.

The American 12s improved to 2-0 in pool play. Kennewick faces Stafford, Va., at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the third of four pool games.

Brody Martin and Presley Martinez each had a hit, an RBI and scored a run for Kennewick.

Malaki Villalobos gave up two hits and one run in two innings, striking out four. Martin scattered five hits in four innings of relief, while striking out five and walking none.
