HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Yakima’s stay at the USSSA Southeast Nationals tournament ended Saturday morning.

The STX Bombers of Cincinnati rallied for four runners in the fifth inning for a walk-off 7-6 victory, ousting the Diamond Cats from the tournament.

Trailing 1-0 after the first inning, Yakima took the lead in the second inning on Elise Heater’s RBI single. Heater would score on an error.

The Damond Cats played add-on in their next three bats, with Madi Statler’s RBI double to score Brooklynn Root, who had also doubled, in the third.

An inning later, Root smacked a two-run double to push Ashleigh James and Heater. Leila Cook later scored on an error to make it 6-1 Yakima. Heater doubled, while James reached on a fielder’s choice, and an error put Cook on first.

The Bombers, though, would rally themselves, with a pair of runs in the fourth and the decisive outburst in the fifth.

Yakima totaled eight hits – four of them doubles.

Ainsley Johnson went the distance on the mound for the Diamond Cats (17-8). Just three of the Bombers’ runs were earned, as they were aided by a pair of Yakima errors in their final at-bat.
