With three new coaches in the conference and a defending champion that graduated 12 all-conference selections – five of whom earned honors on both sides of the ball – the landscape in the CWAC could be shifting.

What the conference looks like this season will start to reveal itself early as each week includes four CWAC matchups and one nonleaguer.

Reigning champion East Valley, which advanced to the Class 2A state semifinals for the first time since 2002, will ease into its CWAC schedule, with games against the top three teams in last year's standings spread over the final four weeks.

Conference favorite Prosser meets perennial conference contender Othello in the second week and title contender Selah in the penultimate week.

Here are the top matchups of the CWAC slate:

Sept. 4 – Ellensburg at Othello, 7 p.m., Huskie Stadium

The Bulldogs and Huskies open the season and new coaching eras with former Granger quarterback Ryker Ely leading Ellensburg after just a couple weeks on the job, and former University of Tennessee performance scientist Jerome Learman guiding Othello.

Sept. 10 – Othello at Prosser, 7 p.m., Art Fiker Stadium

The Huskies have gotten the best of the Mustangs three of the last four matchups, including last season. But this Prosser team seems poised for big things.

Sept. 11 – Ephrata at East Valley, 7 p.m., Earl Barden Stadium

After getting its nonleaguer out of the way in a Week 1 matchup against Davis, the Red Devils open defense of their conference title with a new cast of players.

Oct. 23 – Selah at Prosser, 7 p.m. Art Fiker Stadium

This one will likely be the biggest hurdle for the Mustangs two win their first CWAC championship since 2022.

Various dates – Contenders at Ephrata

The Tigers nearly upended Prosser a year ago, and had notched home victories against the Mustangs, East Valley, Othello and Selah in recent years. Ephrata hosts the Vikings, Huskies and Prosser this season.
