PROSSER – Junior running back Autry Hoefer scored four touchdowns – three on second half runs and another on a first quarter reception – and conference favorite Prosser handled Othello 28-8 in CWAC action Thursday night at Art Fiker Stadium.

Hoefer’s big night started in the first quarter when he took a Daniel Diaz 25 yards for a score on a fourth and seven nearly midway through the first quarter to give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.

The Huskies, who beat Ellensburg 24-0 last week in coach Jerome Learman’s debut, answered with a touchdown less than four minutes into the second quarter, and added a two-point conversion for an 8-7 lead they would take into halftime.

Prosser nearly returned the second half kickoff to the 50-yard line, and needed just 84 seconds to go the rest of the way with Hoefer’s 9-yard run capping the drive.

After an Othello three-and-out, Prosser again had a short field, and needed just five plays to go 55 yards with Hoefer finishing it off with a 20-yard scamper, to help the Mustangs to a 22-8.

Hoefer, who missed the first half of last season but still finished with more than 500 yards rushing, capped his big night with an 8-yard scoring run.

The Mustangs were without standout receiver Brody Buxton because of a disciplinary issue, but he is expected back for their next game.

Othello (1-1) will host Selah in another key CWAC matchup next Thursday, while Prosser (2-0) visits Grandview a week from Friday.

Sageview rolls to second win

SPOKANE – Six days after putting up the program’s first victory, Sageview rolled to 2-0 as junior Alex Flores threw six touchdown passes and thumped Shadle Park 54-7 at ONE Spokane Stadium on Thursday.

Flores completed 21 of 37 for 390 yards, and Lobos running back Eli Henderson scored four touchdowns – one on the ground; three through the air. Receiver Jaysen Beasley had three touchdown receptions, including a 95-yard catch and run.
