KENNEWICK – Kennewick improved to 2-0 with a dominating performance against the defending Greater Spokane League champion, beating Gonzaga Prep 27-7 in nonleague action Friday night at Lampson Stadium.

Jorge Martinez had a pair of interceptions and Leroy Ables pulled down a couple key receptions, and the Lions defense stymied the Bullpups after an early big play to improve to 2-0.

Kennewick will open conference play next Friday against Kamiakin.

KAMIAKIN 49, WEST VALLEY (YAKIMA) 7: At Yakima, Gavin Conrath threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns, and Knox Robertson rushed for a pair of scores as the Braves (2-0) scored all of their points in the first half of the nonleague contest.

Drayden Birley threw a 36-yard pass to Nico Espinoza for the Rams (0-2) touchdown.

CHIAWANA 20, MEAD 14: At Spokane, Emmett Osterdock tossed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Treigh Maldonado, Cooper Cissne ran for a 4-yard touchdown and Adoness Upton booted a pair of field goals to lead the Riverhawks (2-0) to the nonleague victory.

Chiawana opens MCC play Thursday by hosting Southridge.

WENATCHEE 27, LAKE WASHINGTON 12: At Kirkland, Rigo Garcia completed 23 of 28 passes with scoring strikes to Micah Knell and Chase Ballew.

Knell finished with 10 receptions for 119 yards and Griffin Butler had eight grabs for 86 yards, and Christian Ward and Liam Stuber each had short touchdown runs for Wenatchee (2-0), which hosts South Kitsap next week to cap nonleague play.

EASTMONT 30, SOUTHRIDGE 24: At East Wenatchee, Austin Zelinski rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats improved to 2-0 under Rory Rosenbach with a nonleague victory against the Class 3A state-playoff qualifier.

Peyton Zelinski threw for 221 yards and tossed two touchdowns, including a 46-yarder to Cooper West for the game-winner. Conley McGinnis added 11 tackles and a key interception in the second half.

PASCO 37, NORTH CENTRAL 6: At Pasco, the Bulldogs (1-1) ran for five touchdowns in the nonleague victory, and will open MCC play at Hermiston next Friday.

LAKE CITY, IDAHO 14, EISENHOWER 0: At Coeur d’Alene, the Cadets fell to 0-2 with the loss to the Timberwolves ahead of its annual matchup against Davis.

COEUR D’ALENE 42, MOSES LAKE 7: At Coeur d’Alene, the Idaho contender handed the Mavericks (1-1) their first regular-season loss in more than two years.

EAST LAKE 42, SUNNYSIDE 10: At Sammamish, Julian Villanueva completed 11 of 22 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown to Dilucas Salinas for the Grizzlies (0-2). Salinas finished with five catches for 86 yards.

WALLA WALLA 44, LAKELAND, IDAHO 28: At Walla Walla, the Blue Devils handled the Rathdrum, Idaho club to even their season record. Walla Walla hosts Hanford on Thursday.

ORTING 34, HANFORD 13: At Richland, the Cardinals outscored the Falcons (0-2) 21-0 in the second half of the nonleague contest.

WEST VALLEY (SPOKANE) 42, HERMISTON 34: At Hermiston, the Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 21-7 in the second half to hand Hermiston (1-1) its first loss of the season.

GRAHAM-KAPOWSIN 48, RICHLAND 11: At Richland, the Eagles rolled past the Bombers. Stat Hound’s Jeff Morrow covered the game.
