WAPATO – Royal senior Dax Jenks found the end zone four different ways in the first half and totaled five touchdowns Friday as the top-ranked Knights rolled past Wapato 69-6 for their 51st straight victory.

In the first quarter, Jenks returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown, hauled in a 4-yard pass from lefty Grant Wardenaar for a score and added a 4-yard TD run.

After scoring on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, he returned an interception 24 yards for his final tally.

Wardenaar completed all six of his passes – three of them for touchdowns – for 136 yards.

Manny Ruvalcaba, Fischer Livingston and Gage Anderson also hauled in touchdowns receptions, and Scout Stevenson and Gordon Fielding picked off passes and took them back for scores.

The six-time defending Class 1A state champions host fellow unbeaten Zillah next Friday in a matchup of top-10 teams.

ZILLAH 67, COLLEGE PLACE 7: At Zillah, the Leopards improved to 3-0 before a Homecoming crowd with Beau Donahoe throwing for 197 yards and four touchdowns and Zayiden Aparicio adding 167 yards and three scores through the air.

Budda Aranda caught a pair of scores, and Maverick Myers rushed for two touchdowns.

Brayden Russell rushed for a touchdown and caught a scoring pass.

Zillah, ranked fifth in the VarsityWA top 10, heads to David Nielsen Memorial Field on Friday to take on No. 1 Royal.

CASHMERE 62, CHELAN 7: At Cashmere, the Bulldogs bounced back from last week’s trip to Royal with a dominating victory against their former Caribou Trail League rival in the Battle for the Bronze Shoe.

Junior quarterback Mac Carlson completed 11 of 13 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns, with four different players catching scoring strikes and nine with receptions.

Four players had rushing scores for Cashmere, which led 55-0 at halftime in beating the Goats for the 12th straight time.

CONNELL 29, KIONA-BENTON 12: At Benton City, Ben Naef and Adam Mauia each scored a pair touchdowns and the Eagles bounced back from their first loss of the season to improve 2-1 with the road victory.

Noah Davidson shined on the defensive side for Connell, recording a pair of timely sacks and forcing a safety late to secure the victory.

The Eagles host Naches Valley next Friday.

WAHLUKE 13, NACHES VALLEY 6: At Naches, the Warrior rebounded from last weekend’s one-point loss to notch their first victory of the season. 

Yovani Garcia returned a kickoff for a touchdown and provided a key top on fourth down, and Michael Valdovinos found Alejandro Cruz with a 22-yard scoring pass.

Wahluke (1-2) heads to Warden next Friday for a nonleague contest.

PROSSER 56, GRANDVIEW 7: At Grandview, the fourth-ranked Mustangs made the short trip and improved to 3-0 with Daniel Diaz throwing for 207 yards and four touchdowns and Brody Buxton hauled in five passes for 69 yards and a pair of scores.

Korbyn Hopwood added 52 yards on two carries for Prosser, which takes a break from CWAC play next Friday to visit Mariner.

EPHRATA 62, QUINCY 7: At Quincy, the Tigers (1-2) rolled to their first victory of the season against the Jackrabbits (0-3) in the Battle of the Basin.

ROCHESTER 36, ELLENSBURG 8: At Ellensburg, the Warriors spoiled the home opener for the Bulldogs (3-0) and first-year coach Ryker Ely.
