WENATCHEE – After being slowed by  a leg injury  in the early season, Moses Lake senior Elijah Burns was a full-go Friday night against Wenatchee.

Burns ran for a school-record 309 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the two-time defending CBBN champions to a 58-22 victory against the previously unbeaten Panthers.

The Mavericks senior broke Robbie Waites’ 22-year-old scoring record by four yards.

Burns had 16 carries coming into the game, but Moses Lake focused on the run against Wenatchee, which hired former Eastmont coach Jay Foster as its defensive coordinator.

A season ago, the Wildcats kept Mavericks’ record-setting quarterback Brady Jay in check, before Burns sparked the offense late. On Friday, he got going early, scoring three of his touchdowns in the first half as Moses Lake took a 37-22 lead into halftime.

The Mavs broke away in the second half, with Nolan Decubber tossing the second of two touchdown passes, while Burns and Petrah Mackenzie ran for scores.

Decubber finished with 179 passing yards and also ran for a 17-yard score as time expired in the first half. Case Anderson and Isaac Legault caught TD passes from Decubber.

Burns scored on runs of 81, 10, 28 and 1 yard for Moses Lake (3-1 overall, 2-0 CBBN), which heads to Post Falls to cap nonconference play Friday, before hosting Davis on Oct. 9.

Rigo Garcia completed 17 of 34 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns, including a pair of scores to CBBN-leading receiver Micah Knell, who finished with six receptions for 73 yards.

Griffin Butler also had a scoring catch for the Panthers (3-1 overall, 0-1 CBBN), who visit Davis on Friday.

SUNNYSIDE 22, EISENHOWER 0: At Yakima, with head coach Lavon Coleman on administrative leave, the Grizzlies posted their first win of the season.

Hayden Bucio rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, and Julian Villanueva threw for 151 yards and score and also had a running TD.

Sunnyside (1-3 overall, 1-1 CBBN) hosts West Valley on Friday.

EASTMONT 53, POST FALLS 31: At East Wenatchee, the Wildcats continued their offensive onslaught, eclipsing the 50-point mark for the second time this season in capping their nonleague schedule with dominating win to improve to 4-0 overall.

Eastmont is averaging more than 47 points a game this season inder first-year coach Rory Rosenbach.

The Wildcats (1-0 CBBN) return to conference play next Friday with Eisenhower coming to town.

WEST VALLEY 30, DAVIS 28 (3OT): At Yakima, Rams quarterback Drayden Birley ran in a two-point conversion to cap the thriller. Stat Hound’s Jerrel Swenning was there.

SOUTHRIDGE 27, KAMIAKIN 14: At Kennewick, Tayton Jackman and Jacob Korotkov each scored two rushing touchdowns en route to leading the Suns over the Braves at Lampson Stadium.

Southridge scored 27 unanswered points in the victory, giving it a 2-0 MCC record (3-1 overall). Kamiakin falls to 0-2 MCC, 2-2 overall.

Jackman finished with 164 yards rushing, while Korotkov rushed for 105 more.

Kamiakin QB Gavin Cronrath passed for 270 yards and connected with Michael Kori for two scoring strikes.

Kori caught 4 passes for 113 yards.

SAGEVIEW 41, PASCO 7: At Pasco, the Lobos continued their hot start, improving to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
