There was little movement among the eight teams ranked in VarsityWA’s top 10 football rankings, while three area players are up for the Week 4 award.
Six-time defending Class 1A state champion Royal remains No. 1 in Class 1A as the Knights (4-0) look for their 53rd straight victory Saturday when they head to Kiona-Benton. The streak, which started in 2022, would match that racked up from 2014-18.
Cashmere (3-1) remained No. 3 in 1A after beating Zillah (3-1), which fell from fifth to eighth.
The Leopards (3-1) were the only area team that slipped in the poll.
Moses Lake pulled away from Wenatchee to improve to 3-1, while also handing the Panthers their first loss of the season, and kept its spot at No. 7, two spots ahead of Chiawana (3-1), which bounced back from its first loss of the season.
Eastmont is just outside of the 4A top 10.
Kennewick (3-1) suffered its first setback against Richland on Saturday, but again is No. 8 in the 3A poll, while Southridge (3-1) remains just outside of the top 10.
Prosser (4-0) traveled to Mariner and shut out the Marauders, and holds down the No. 4 spot in the 2A poll, while undefeated Selah (4-0) is 10th. The Vikings host No. 8 West Valley of Spokane on Friday.
East Valley, also 4-0, is just outside the top 10.
In the all-classifications rankings, Royal remained No. 11, Kennewick fell to 20th with Chiawana right behind them, and Prosser rounding out the rankings.
A trio of area athletes are up for VarsityWA's Football Athlete of the Week for Week 4. Voting continues through Friday.
Moses Lake’s Elijah Burns rushed for a school-record 309 yards and four touchdowns against Wenatchee.
Cashmere’s Ethan Bessonette scored four ways against Wapato. The junior returned a kickoff (90 yards), punt (35), interception (23) for touchdowns, and also caught a pass for a 23-yard score.
Naches Valley’s Isaac Mahre intercepted a pass in his fourth consecutive game, and has forced five turnovers in 2026.
