EAST WENATCHEE – Ava Garcia smacked three home runs and drove in 10 runs to lead Eastmont past defending Class 4A state champion Moses Lake, 28-17, in the CBBN district championship game Thursday at the Sterling Four-Plex.

Marissah Martinez added three hits, including a pair of homers, and knocked in five runs for the top-seeded Wildcats (16-3), while Allie Hastings, Halle Radach and Izabella Walker also had HRs for the CBBN regular-season champs.

Eastmont, which is No. 3 in the WIAA RPI, also won the fastpitch district tournament last spring.

Mya Martinez led the Mavericks (16-5) with four hits, one of them a home run, and knocked in three runs. Amelia Avalos, Ely Vela and Kennadee Lyons also homered for second-seeded Moses Lake, and Amaiah Martinez had four hits, including a pair of doubles.

The Mavericks will host West Valley, seeded third, at 1 p.m. Saturday for the district’s second berth to state. The Rams (13-3) defeated Sunnyside 12-1 to advance.

Addison Ward’s two-run double keyed a seven-run bottom of the second for West Valley, which advanced to the state semifinals a year ago, and tied for third when the consolation play was rained out.

Ashleigh James tripled and drove in a run, and Calleigh Sinnes had an RBI triple and scored three runs for the Rams.

The Wildcats will join District 6 champion Chiawana in Yakima for the state tournament Oct. 23-24 at Kiwanis Park.

In Wednesday’s district final, the second-seeded Riverhawks defeated top-seeded 22-11 to advance to the 4A tourney.

Alex Terrazas hit two home runs and drove in seven runs to lead the Mid-Columbia Conference regular-season champs to the championship.

Lakin Wilson also smacked a pair of homers and drove in five runs, while Aleeah Anderson and Emma Lewis also had HRs for Chiawana (19-1).

The Riverhawks hold down the No. 1 spot in the WIAA’s RPI, and were the state runners-up a year ago.
