COLLEGE PLACE – No. 1-ranked Cashmere capped its third unbeaten conference slate Saturday afternoon, sweeping College Place, 25-10, 26-16, 26-17.

The Bulldogs, who did not drop a set in conference play, are 48-0 since joining the SCAC in 2024.

Western Washington-bound hitter and two-time conference Player of the Year Macie Smart paced the attack with 17 kills and seven digs, and fellow senior Cali Diaz fed the offense with 30 assists.

Cashmere remained No. 1 in the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association state rankings despite dropping a four-set decision to third-ranked Lynden Christian in an Oct. 16 nonleague matchup, a testament to the team’s consistency.

Third at last year’s Class 1A state tournament in the Yakima Valley SunDome, the Bulldogs will begin their postseason Halloween afternoon with the start of the District 5 tournament, which includes the top six finishers in the SCAC and first and second place in the three-team Caribou Trail League.

The bracket is expected to be revealed early in the week.

Cashmere will try to wrest the district title from six-time defending 1A champion. The Bulldogs swept the second-ranked Goats earlier this season.

Ellensburg, EV win district openers

Ellensburg handled Selah 4-1 and East Valley topped Ephrata 3-1 on Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the CWAC district tournament.

The second-seeded Bulldogs – who got goals from Makenna Shaw, Brea Potucek, Claire Mays and Faith Rector – will host a semi on Halloween.

Bella Quiroz netted a pair of goals, and Allison Fries also scored for the top-seeded Red Devils, who will also host a semifinal Oct. 31.

The Vikings will welcome Grandview, a 2-1 winner against Quincy, to Karl Graf Field in a loser-out game, while the Tigers host Othello, which ousted Prosser, 4-1, the same day.

Wenatchee was 2-1 winner against Moses Lake in CBBN action.

The Panthers visit Eisenhower on Tuesday looking to avenge a 5-0 loss on their home turf Oct. 3, which ended Wenatchee’s 10-game winning streak against conference opponents, nine of those in the regular season.

Elsewhere in the CBBN, West Valley edged Sunnyside, 1-0, and Eastmont rolled past Davis, 5-0.

Cashmere, which had already wrapped up the SCAC regular-season title, posted a 7-0 victory to finish 15-1 in conference play.
