Prosser junior Herbie Wright and Quincy senior Pierce Bierlink are well on their way to repeating as CWAC scoring champions.

This week, they’re also up for the VarsityWA Athlete of the Week award.

Wright twice scored 33 points, leading the first-place Mustangs past Ellensburg and East Valley to remain in first place.

Against the Bulldogs, she scored 13 points in the first quarter, and third-ranked Prosser built a 14-point lead midway through the first quarter and rolled to a 74-47 victory.

The second 33-point outing of the weekend led the Mustangs to a 71-23 victory, pushing her past 1,400 points for her career and fourth on the school’s all-time list.

Bierlink scored 29 points to lead the Jackrabbits past Ephrata 72-39 on Saturday, six days after he eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for his career.

Zillah’s X Castilleja won last week’s vote. The junior had a steal and a game-winning 3-pointer against No. 4 Royal on Jan. 16 to help the top-ranked Leopards stay unbeaten and take a two-game lead atop the SCAC with an 88-84 victory.
