Riding an eight-game winning streak and the historic scoring of junior Herbie Wright, the Prosser girls remained No. 3 in the VarsityWA state rankings released Monday morning.

The Mustangs head to Selah on Tuesday evening to meet the sixth-ranked Vikings, looking to wrap up an outright conference title. Selah accounts for Prosser’s lone CWAC, having used a closing run to win on the road four weeks ago.

In the boys game to follow, the third-ranked Vikings, who wrapped up the conference championship Friday by beating Othello, can cap their first unbeaten full-season run through the CWAC since 2018.

Selah also was unbeaten in the abbreviated spring 2021 pandemic season.

Prosser’s boys come into the game winners of three straight and six of seven, and will finish no worse than tied for third place.

Grandview is No. 9 in both polls, while Ellensburg's girls are seventh.

In the SCAC, Zillah’s boys and girls remained atop the 1A polls with Wapato coming to town to cap the Leopards’ conference schedule.

Mario Mengarelli’s boys squad is the last unbeaten team in 1A, and is looking for its third perfect run through the SCAC in the last four seasons.

Royal remains No. 4 in the boys rankings.

VarsityWA BOYS POLL/VarsityWA GIRLS POLL

The Leopards girls squad faces a fifth-ranked Wolves squad that is trying to hold off No. 7 Royal for second place in the SCAC.

Defending 4A champion Davis remains No. 1 after wrapping up a league title for the fourth consecutive year. They’re three games away from a third straight unscathed league record.

West Valley’s boys are going for their first perfect conference record since 2020, and are ranked sixth.
