Ellensburg volleyball will put its 52-match CWAC regular-season winning streak on the line Thursday night when the Bulldogs travel to Selah to renew their rivalry with the Vikings.

Both teams remained unbeaten in conference play Tuesday night.

Third-ranked Ellensburg broke away after a fairly tight first set to sweep Quincy 25-19, 25-6, 25-5 to improve to 3-0 in the CWAC. The Class 2A state runner-up the last two years is 54-1 against conference opponents under Jesse Stueckle, who took the reins of the program before the 2020 season.

Selah, ranked No. 9 in last week’s Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association poll, dropped the first set before roaring back to beat the Huskies in four sets, 21-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-12, and is 2-0 in conference matches.

In other CWAC action, seventh-ranked Prosser swept Toppenish, 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

The CBBN will have its own matchup of unbeatens on Thursday when West Valley hosts Davis in the first of two conference matchups between the two teams.

The Rams, who outlasted Wenatchee last Thursday to hand the Panthers their first conference since WV beat them in 2022, swept Sunnyside on Tuesday, 25-14, 25-5, 25-15.

At Davis, the Pirates beat Eastmont in four sets to improve 2-0 in CBBN play.

Top-ranked Cashmere finished the first half of SCAC play unbeaten, sweeping No. 7 Connell in a matchup of teams who entered conference play unbeaten. The Bulldogs won 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.

Cashmere, which won its second straight small-school title earlier this month at the SunDome Volleyball Festival, finished third at last year’s Class 1A state tournament, pushing six-time defending champion and former Caribou Trail League rival Chelan to a fifth set in a semifinal.

The Goats will visit the Bulldogs on Oct. 8 for a nonconference showdown.

Mid-Columbia Conference play gets going Thursday, with Kamiakin looking for its sixth straight championship.

Two-time defending CBBN champion Wenatchee continued to roll Tuesday, improving to 5-0 in conference action with an 8-0 victory against Moses Lake.

The Panthers have outscored opponents 25-1 in conference play.

They could face their toughest challenge Saturday when Eisenhower visits.

The Cadets are 4-0 in conference play, and had a bye Tuesday.

Chiawana, Kamiakin and Southridge all improved to 2-0 in Mid-Columbia Conference action Tuesday, while Ephrata and Selah did the same in the CWAC to match East Valley, which had a bye.

The MCC and CWAC play conference opponents once while the CBBN and SCAC teams meet each other twice.

Cashmere, which like its volleyball counterparts hasn’t lost a conference game since joining the SCAC, defeated Connell 8-0 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs completed the first round of conference play undefeated.
