The CWAC and SCAC wrapped up their baseball and fastpitch conference schedules this weekend, while the CBBN capped its penultimate week.

The CWAC soccer district tournament began Saturday with four games - two of them first-round contests with the winners advancing to the semifinals, and the other two play-in matchups with one team advancing.

Baseball and fastpitch tournaments open Tuesday with four games in each sport. Othello continued its pitching dominance with two no-hitters Saturday and will enter the tourney as the top seed. East Valley and Selah, who split a doubleheader last month, tied for first place.

Last year, the Red Devils edged the Vikings for the district championship, and they enter this year's event as the top seed because of a preseason draw.

In the SCAC, seeding committees will fill the baseball bracket on Tuesday and the fastpitch bracket Wednesday. Both fields will include a couple teams from the Caribou Trail League, which also is part of District 5.

Soccer will have a 16-team bracket as both the SCAC and CTL include several 2B and 1B teams that opt for a spring schedule rather than fall.

West Valley has secured the top seed for the CBBN district baseball tournament, and has a three-game series this week against Wenatchee as it tries to cap its second 18-0 conference record in a row.

Davis has the inside track to soccer's top spot, while Moses Lake and Eastmont are tied atop the fastpitch standings and meet Friday in a doubleheader.
