Class 4A defending champion Davis remained No. 1 in the VarsityWA state rankings ahead of its matchup with sixth-ranked Lake Washington on Monday at the MLK 'The Dream; Showcase at Federal Way High School.
Tip-off between the Pirates and the Kangaroos is slated for 4:30 p.m. Davis won a state quarterfinal between the two last March in the Tacoma Dome, 71-59.
West Valley's boys hold down the No. 7 spot, and are scheduled to face 3A No. 6 Bellevue at the MLK Invitational at Renton High School. Austin Birley's half-court shot at the horn lifted the Rams past the Wolverines in the same event a year ago.
Selah's boys, No. 3 in 2A, will play unranked Mercer Island in the preceding game at 2:30. Grandview is No. 10.
Zillah's boys, who beat No. 4 Royal on X Castilleja's last-second 3-pointer, again is No. 1. The Knights rebounded with a convincing victory at No. 5 Chelan and did not slip in the polls.
The Leopards girls squad has won 13 straight and are atop the poll for a third straight week. Wapato and Royal are fifth and seventh, respectively.
Four CWAC girls teams continue to be ranked, with Prosser No. 3, Selah No. 6, Ellensburg No. 7 and Grandview checking in at No. 9. With just two state berths for the conference, the battle for the SunDome should be intense.
