Prosser junior has been racking up the points and now the CWAC’s top scorer is hauling in the awards.

After winning the VarsityWA athlete of the year vote last week and being up for the honor again this week, and the Sports Illustrated Girls Athlete of the Week polling, she was named Thursday as one of the WIAA’s 12 Athletes of the Week.

The latest honor recognizes her for the school- and Yakima Valley-record 57 points in a 98-55.

That followed the back-to-back 33-point games she had in victories against Ellensburg and East Valley, which put earned her a nomination in the VarsityWA and Sports Illustrated votes.

With a victory Tuesday at Selah, the third-ranked Mustangs clinched their first CWAC championship since 2011 when they also won the Class 2A state championship in the Yakima Valley SunDome led by Tamara Jones, now an assistant for Prosser.

Ninth-ranked Grandview visits the Mustangs on Friday night to cap the conference schedule.
