Prosser girls, Royal boys move up in VarsityWA polls
CWAC champion Mustangs No. 2 in 2A, Knights third in 1A rankings

CWAC regular-season girls champion Prosser, winners of 10 straight by an average of more than 48 points per game, moved up to No. 2 in the VarsityWA Class 2A state rankings released Monday morning.
The Mustangs, who open district play Tuesday hosting Grandview, take the spot previously occupied by Deer Park, which fell 68-67 to No. 5 Clarkston on Friday.
Ellensburg, which has reeled off five straight victories since falling at Prosser, moved up to sixth. The Bulldogs, who have advanced to the championship game four consecutive years, rallied from a 20-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Selah on Friday.
The Vikings are No. 8 while Grandview is ninth.
Selah, which finished 16-0 in CWAC play, checks in at No. 3 in the boy poll, while Grandview is seventh. The Vikings and Greyhounds at the top two seeds in the district tournament which begins Wednesday.
Zillah again holds down the top spots in both 1A polls. The Leopards capped unbeaten SCAC runs in the same season for the first time since 2018.
Royal’s boys, whose only losses are to Zillah, is up to No. 3, with Chelan – which won the Caribou Trail League – at No. 4. The Goats will be the No. 3 seed in the district tournament, with Leopards and Knights No. 1 and 2, respectively.
Zillah’s girls are joined in the top 10 by Royal (No. 6) and Wapato (No. 8).
Davis’ girls remained No. 1 in 4A. The Pirates visit Sunnyside on Tuesday before hosting Wenatchee to cap CBBN play. The Pirates are looking for their third straight unbeaten conference record.
West Valley’s boys also stayed put, and are No. 6. The Rams head to Eisenhower on Tuesday to finish CBBN play.
