YAKIMA – When your first bucket of the season is for a milestone, you could be headed for another big season.

Davis’ Cheyenne Hull, regarded as the top junior in the state, repeated Wednesday as the MaxPreps Washington Player of the Year, the website announced.

The award comes on the heels of several more honors for Hull.

Monday, she was named the VarsityWA 4A tournament MVP after leading the Pirates to their second state championship in a row. Hull averaged 17.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.3 steals in three games at state for the Pirates, who again handled postseason nemesis Sumner in the championship game.

Late last month, she repeated as the CBBN Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring for the second straight year.

Hull’s season began with a layup against Kamiakin that pushed her past the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Davis, which finished 24-2 and has lost just one game in the last two seasons to an in-state opponent, is already being named the favorite again next season.
