Moses Lake quarterback Brady Jay’s record-setting season continued to haul in the awards this week.

Jay, who has signed to play at Montana, was named the Class 4A Offensive Player of the Year on Tuesday by the Washington State Football Coaches Association after winning the All-Classifications Offensive Player of the Year from VarsityWA the day before.

The two-time CBBN Most Valuable Player threw for 4,207 yards and 72 touchdowns as the Mavericks won their first 11 games to repeat as conference champions and advance to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2005.

His touchdown total topped the state record set by New Orleans coach Kellen Moore, who threw 67 touchdowns in 15 games in 2006.

Jay’s career passing totals of 11,086 yards and 170 touchdowns rank sixth and second, respectively, in state history.

Twice he threw for nine touchdowns, one shy of the state record.

Moses Lake defensive lineman Treyson Knowles also was named to the WSFCA 4A all-state team.

Knowles was credited with 12.5 sacks and 61 total tackles, with 17.5 for loss.

Former Davis standout Lance McGee was named the WSFCA 4A State Player of the Year and VarsityWA’s All-Classifications Player of the Year.

After winning the CBBN Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, McGee transferred to play for defending 4A champion Sumner.

After a 2-3 start, the Spartans got on a roll, winning nine straight and repeating as state champion with McGee leading the way.

After rushing for 313 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-35 semifinal victory against top-seeded Puyallup, the Oregon State-bound back ran for 368 yards and six TDs in the championship game against Lake Stevens.

McGee finished the season with 2,466 yards and 42 touchdowns on 251 carries.
